Former state superintendent joins Wayne State

Wayne State's appointment of Thomas Watkins, outgoing superintendent of public instruction for Michigan, to a new position overseeing K-12 initiatives at the university, is noted in a brief. In his new role, Watkins will be responsible for developing and assessing learning programs that benefit children in kindergarten through high school, along with initiatives to help students prepare for college.
